Technical Note
According to the Ural owner’s manual for models with selectable sidecar drive, the 2WD may only be engaged while the vehicle is stationary. The sidecar drive is intended exclusively for poor road conditions such as snow, mud, sand, gravel, or off-road driving. On paved roads, the sidecar drive must not be driven with the system engaged continuously, as this significantly impairs handling and can lead to damage to the drivetrain.
The same manual also recommends regularly lubricating the cardan shaft’s gears and regularly checking the bolt connections on the final drive, swing arm, and cardan fork to ensure they are tight.
